The brief given to us by our client was to design and make a coffee table with a drawer for use in their lounge. They required the table to complement their Victorian furniture yet have a contemporary element to the design. The oval shape gave the most practical design solution for the way the client would use the table. The table is constructed in oak and veneered with burr oak with bog oak detailing. The bog oak dates to approximately three and a half thousand years BC.
The drawer is constructed with handcut dovetail joints and the table was finished using an AC Lacquer for durable use as a coffee table.
We were very pleased with the final piece.

We came across David Mawdsley at Art in the Pen in Skipton, having already seen his work at an exhibition in York. We have been delighted with the coffee table we commissioned. David kept us informed throughout the design and construction process and we now have a unique piece of furniture which is both beautful and practical. We can highly recommend Mawdsley Williams.
