Collaboration
We are often asked by other artists to work on pieces of art with them. We are also inspired by other artists’ work and have developed pieces of furniture after seeing their work.
This table was inspired by the work of calligrapher Richard Crookes. His calligraphy “Entwined twixt twig and twine” (see here) was carved into the console table top by David. Stephanie created cords from hemp yarn and these have been inlaid into the table top and side in an ‘entwined’ pattern. Maple is used for the main part of this table, with cherry inlaid in straight lines to represent the twigs. The table has tapered end panels and a single drawer. The drawer fits discreetly in the front cherry panel, and is made using handcut dovetails.
